Coupon Sets 

Coupon sets can be very useful if you're running campaigns and need a large amount of promo codes. So rather than creating hundreds of coupons in Chargebee, you can create a single coupon, configure its behavior and upload your coupons codes in bulk to it.

All the coupon in a set will have the same behavior as the main coupon they're linked to.

Creating Coupon sets 

To generate coupons manually or using the autogenerate option, follow these steps:

  1. Log into your Chargebee site.

  2. To upload, go to Product Catalog > Coupon Sets > click + Create Coupon sets.

Auto-generate Coupon sets 

Use the Auto-generate a set to autogenerate the required coupon set.

  1. Enter a value between 1 and 1000 into the Number of coupons field.

  2. Enter the Prefix, Suffix, and Coupon Set Name. The Coupon Set ID is autogenerated and also editable.

  3. Pick an option from the Coupon drop-down to link this set to the main coupon.

  4. Click Submit to generate the Coupon set with a defined number of coupons.

Upload Coupon sets manually 

Use the Upload manually option to upload a CSV file containing the coupon sets. Click Upload to upload the CSV file.

Limitations 

  • The coupon sets should be in a CSV file format and only contain the coupon sets.
  • Coupon codes should not contain any special characters. Only alphabets and numbers are allowed. Coupon codes should not contain special characters (such as !, @, #, $, %, ^, &, *, (, )) — only alphabets and numbers are allowed.
  • Coupon codes in the file should be unique.
  • There is a limit of 1000 coupon codes per coupon set. If you need to upload more, create another CSV file and upload the rest as another coupon set.

Coupon set behavior 

  • Coupon sets mirror the behavior of the main coupon they are linked to.
  • Coupon sets can applied on the sign-up page and also through the API.
  • Even if a coupon set has been linked to the main coupon, you can still apply the main coupon to subscriptions. If you do not want this to happen, you need to make sure the main coupon code is not known to anyone else.
  • A coupon code can only be applied to a single subscription, and cannot be redeemed more than once.
  • The number of coupon codes that can be redeemed within a coupon set depends on the main coupon's maximum redemption value and redemption count.
Example

If the main coupon's redemption limit is 10 and the coupon set consists of 100 coupon codes, you will only be able to apply 10 coupon codes from the set. You can however change the main coupon's redemption limit by editing it at any time.

Also, if the main coupon's redemption limit is 10 and it has already been redeemed 9 times, only 1 coupon code from the linked coupon set can be redeemed. But you can always edit the main coupon's redemption count to increase or decrease it when needed.

  • When deleting a coupon set, unused coupon codes will be deleted and used ones will be archived.
  • Similarly if the main coupon is archived, unused coupon codes will be deleted and used coupon codes will be archived.

1) Can coupon codes be added to Quotes?

Yes, coupon codes can be added to Quotes.
