Entitlements Overview 

Entitlements are the set of privileges that govern to what extent or how much an application user can access or utilize its features. In other words, entitlements are for managing access control of your product's features.

In Chargebee's context, entitlements refer to the system of providing a suite of features, which different customers have access to based on the products they have subscribed to. Examples

SaaS company 

A SaaS company could offer three plans - Basic plan users only get email support and an SLA of 3 days; Standard plan users get email and phone support with an SLA of 1 day; Premium plans users get email, phone, and chat support with 24/7 always available support.

IoT company 

An IoT company specializing in security doors can offer three membership plans - Basic membership provides only the voice control feature; Standard membership provides break-in detection along with voice control; Premium membership provides automatic cop alert during break-in along with the two other features mentioned.

E-Learning website 

An eLearning website can offer three plans - Basic plan provides access up to 20 learning hours in a month; Standard plan provides access up to 50 learning hours; Expert plan provides access to 100 learning hours a month along with mentor support.

Publication company 

A news website can offer two plans - Basic plan provides access to ten articles and up to five videos per month; Premium plan provides unrestricted access to articles and videos.

Streaming Platform 

An OTT streaming platform can offer three plans - Basic plan provides access to watch up to 5 movies per month in only one language; Standard plan provides access to watch up to 10 movies a month in 2 different languages. Premium plan users could watch up to 40 movies a month in 5 different languages.
