Why are the emails masked while bulk uploading on the test site?

When I upload the email IDs during the Bulk Operation for a set of customer billing information or subscription record, why the email ID is appearing different from the one I have uploaded?

Solution

This is an expected behavior to have the email addresses masked when this bulk operation to update billing information is carried out and this happens only on the test site. This is done to ensure that emails are not sent to the customers accidentally. Please refer to this Chargebee document for more information on Bulk Operations.

Example: If a merchant uploads a customer's billing information as follows:

Billing email address: abc@xyz.com

Then the email address displayed in the billing information section of the customer would be :

Email address: abs_AT_xyz.com@example.com
