Overview

Customer-level entitlements give businesses the flexibility to grant specific features or usage rights directly to a customer, independent of their subscription. This means entitlements are no longer tied only to subscription plans—they can now be associated with one-time product purchases as well.

This capability is especially valuable for companies that offer non-subscription products.

Example

Gaming companies often allow players to access a game without a subscription but purchase one-time items such as coins, weapons, or level upgrades. With customer-level entitlements, these purchases can be directly linked to the customer’s profile, ensuring the corresponding entitlements (like access to items or upgrades) are accurately reflected.

Add Charge via Customer Entitlements

  1. Login to Chargebee.
  2. Go to Customers > Customer Details page and select a customer.

To learn how customer entitlements can be added via subscriptions, refer to the subscription entitlements.

Note

Choose between Combined and Split Views depending on your use case, as API responses will vary based on the selected view.

Limitations

  • Customer-level entitlements are not automatically carried over to new subscriptions. They must be manually added.
  • Customer-level entitlements are not currently supported for Quick Charges.
