Variant Pricing Overview

Introduction

Variant Pricing feature offers businesses the flexibility to manage pricing for multiple variations of a product or service based on variables such as geography, partners, versions, and more as a single item (plan/addon/charge) in the Product Catalog. This will help businesses maintain a lean and well-organized product catalog optimized for scale and revenue growth.

Variant Pricing will be beneficial to your business if you want to:

  • Sell different variants of the same product or service in one listing.
  • Manage plan or addon pricing that varies based on customer segments, location, channels, and more.
  • Experiment with different plan or addon trial periods, and billing cycles and run A/B tests to measure the performance of different versions of the product.

Price Variants

Price Variants help you create variations of the same plan or addon for the same currency and billing frequency combinations. It is a unique identifier that helps you differentiate Price Points with the same billing currency and frequency. A single price variant can be attached to Price Points across multiple plans, addons, or charges. Attach Price Variants to Plans, Addons, and Charges in Chargebee.

Examples

Let's look at an example to better understand how variant pricing can be used.

A SaaS company offers two plans - Standard and Premium. Due to market conditions, the company offers the plans at a different price for the same currency and frequency based on the geography of their customer.
