Problem Statement

How do I fix the Avalara error: "Current theme is not supported for Avalara integration. Please use supported themes"?

Solution

This error appears when Avalara is set as the preferred tax calculation mode and the hosted pages use the Rhapsody theme. Avalara is not supported with Rhapsody. Change to a supported theme.

Steps to Set It Up

1. Go to Settings > Configure Chargebee > Taxes > select a country > Pick your preferred mode of tax configuration > Avalara

2. Confirm you are on Checkout v2 with the Rhapsody theme. See Avalara limitations.
3. Change the theme using the Themes documentation.

If using Checkout v3 (pop-up): If you switched from v2 to v3 and v2 was set to Rhapsody, the theme setting may still apply. If the error appears on both Test and Live sites, contact support to temporarily switch from Hosted Pages v3 to v2. Then go to Settings > Configure Chargebee > Hosted Pages to change the theme, and switch back to v3.
