MRR per month by customer report

MRR per month by customer report

Scope

Net MRR Growth by Customer Type

Total MRR by Customer Type

Solution

Net MRR Growth by Customer Type

Net increase or decrease in Monthly Recurring Revenue during the period segmented by Customer Type.

Explanation of metric

A stacked bar chart represents the net increase or decrease in Monthly Recurring Revenue during the period after taking into account all the new, Expansion, and Churn MRR for each Customer Type.

Note: This is available with RS premium only. To use this metric more efficiently, you have to configure a custom field at the Customer resource level in Chargebee and map it to the Customer Type field to a Customer resource in RevenueStory. However, you can configure and select your values in this custom field. It is recommended to configure meaningful values that are relevant to your business. To enable this, contact your Customer Success Manager or support@chargebee.com.

How it's measured

Net MRR Growth by Customer Type = [(New MRR) + (Reactivation MRR) + (Upgrade MRR) + (Free to paid MRR) + (Resumed MRR)] - [(Cancellation MRR) + (Downgrade MRR) + (Paused MRR) + (Active to Trial MRR)] per customer type

Reading

Up: Good

Interpretation

Net MRR Growth helps in measuring the growth rate of the business. The Customer Type with high growth indicates they are the right target segment for the product or service. Increase revenue by focussing on this Customer Type. For customers with low growth, analyze the reason for churn and contraction.

Example: In a given period, the Total MRR at the beginning of the period is $5,000.

Expansion MRR = $3,000

Gross MRR Churn = $1,500

Net MRR Growth = (3,000 - 1,500)= $1,500

Total MRR by Customer Type

Total Monthly Recurring Revenue earned from Subscriptions segmented by Customer Type.

Explanation of metric

A stacked bar chart represents the type of Customer (Individual, SME, or Enterprise) that contributes to the revenue earned every month.

Note: This is available with RS premium only. To use this metric more efficiently, you have to configure a custom field at the Customer resource level in Chargebee and map it to the Customer type to a Customer resource in RevenueStory. However, you can configure and select your values in this custom field. It is recommended to configure meaningful values that are relevant to your business. To enable this, contact your Customer Success Manager or support@chargebee.com.

How it's measured

Total MRR by Business Type = Total MRR of subscriptions during the period per business type

Note:

  • Revenue from Recurring Plans and Addons

  • Recurring Coupon discounts

Included in Total MRR by Customer Type (If Configured)

Interpretation

Total MRR helps in measuring the growth rate of the business. The Customer Type with high growth indicates they are the right target segment for the product or service. Increase revenue by focussing on this Customer Type. For customers with low growth, analyze the reason for churn and contraction.

Example: In a given period, 200 subscriptions are on Plan A ($50/Month) and 50 subscriptions has a recurring Addon ($10/month) for an enterprise Customer.

MRR = (200 x 50) = $10,000

Recurring Addon = (50 x 10) = $500

Discount per Subscription = $10

Total Discounts = (10 x 200) = $2,000

Total Set up Fees = $700

Total MRR by Customer Type = (10,000 + 500 - 2,000) = $8,500

There are other Customer type MRR reports available in Chargebee. Refer to this link Metric Description for more information.
